My-o-my what a treat for the tastebuds, Filipino 🇵🇭 Beef Tapsilog from @kainricebar, just one of the tasty places at @oslo_streetfood.
So, I heard it on the grapevine from a international exec chef that Filipino food was the next big craze and also just one week ago a colleague told me that it was terrible. So @damien.foodie jumped in to test for himself, and I am so glad he did!
When it was first served, there was no escaping the smell of picked onions, was that going to over power the dish? Only one way to find out.
The dish is made up from soy marinated beef which was deliciously salty and tender, crispy and picked onions for crunch and juicy tang 🤤, on a bed of garlic rice. Dressed up with some jalapeños, chives and coriander, then on top, the most perfectly cooked egg for this dish, something to bind it all together. I’ve had similar food in the east before, but normally the egg is over cooked and typically cold, but this was warm and oozy.
So really in summary this dish was delicious from start to finish, I debated whether the beef was a little too salty, but if you eat everything together, actually it was just perfect, I can’t fault it. Simple but a standout dish, this one.
