Being back in London with it’s much larger Pakistani community means this week I can have authentic curry instead of the more generic dishes I found in Oslo (to be fair, London is also full of the cookie cutter “Indian” restaurants too). But to the food, went for a couple of my favourite dishes, a couple from many.

Nagina restaurant on Ilford Lane is my absolute favourite place for Haleem, a common dish from the Middle East to Asia, the Pak version is a thick spicy lentil stew with meat, in this case beef and an abundance of pepper which really gives their version the edge.

The other dish for our enjoyment was kofte, meatballs in a lightly spiced gravy with eggs, not sure why kofta always seems to come with eggs but equally delicious despite being a completely different kind of dish! Unfortunately for me, I decided to cut the eggs with a fork instead of just eating them with bread like usual and ended up with sauce all over my coat, t-shirt and trousers, must enjoy my food a little more relaxed in future.
Score out of 5 stars:
Haleem: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️🔸
Kofte: ⭐️⭐️⭐️🔸
Naan: ⭐️⭐️ (bit dry)
Thanks a lot for the blog post. Really thank you! Really Cool.
